and the weather? it kinda sucks.
let me start here: i knit something!!

after two (yes, TWO) failed attempts at the hatmione, i was left without a winter hat. so, i went back to an old standard- the good old kittyville style hat (sans ears). knit in the frogged yarn of hatmione #1, i know have a nice simple winter hat. and it matches my amazing clapotis scarf, which i wear everywhere and with everything. seriously, warmest and coziest scarf EVER. if i'm lucky, this weekend someone will take a photo of me in the whole ensamble. so now, after we've received over two feet of snow in ten days, i have a hat to keep my head warm.
next order of business: i got a job! i started last monday. i'm an admin assistant again slash receptionist. the pay is great- the people are all really nice. i feel comfortable already. which is pretty great. knock on wood, and all. of course, in typical rachel fashion, i missed the first to days of this week. i woke up monday at 1am with the worst stomach flu i've ever had. totally not ulcerative colitis related at all. i ended up in the ER on monday night for 3 bags of IV fluids and pain medication. the fluids got rid of my fever and headache, and tuesday was for resting. today i'm mostly better, which is good, because friday morning i'm off to canada for the holidays.
i went to visit the boy and friends a couple weekends ago. i had no money (still don't), but adam begged and paid for my gas, so i went. i'm glad i did. i always have such a nice time when i'm with my friends. adam's roommate brought home a puppy that week. a little three month old wire hair miniature dachshund named randall (he's a berserker). sweetest, cutest, most darling puppy dog ever. this is what he looks like:

he is such a sweet doggie, seriously, such a cuddle monkey- though, i am told he has recently started not so good male dog things such as, well. he's maturing, if you know what i mean.
and here, for good measure, is a picture of my megs, who turns 25 this weekend (and i have yet to figure out what to give/make her for her birthday. shh. don't tell.)

she's wearing the koigu gauntlets that she knit last spring. i love her much, i really do.
and now i'm gonna work on the cross stitch i'm making for adam's mom for christmas and then go to bed, because i am still totally wiped out from the flu. with luck, shortly after i return from canada (either sunday night or monday afternoon, weather depending) i'll have completed my own koigu gauntlets and moved on to something even more exciting. like say, the wavy scarf, or a top down raglan that's been in my brain for months, or some socks, or or or.
happy holidays to those that celebrate, happy winter to the rest of us in the northern hemisphere, happy today to the rest of you. xooxo.
