hi! miss me?
you don't really have to answer that. i'm back in the good old us of a. we arrived home on friday evening, and i've spent the majority of the last two days asleep (save for a three year old's birthday party, yesterday). tonight, of course, i woke at 3:45 and found it impossible to return to dreamyland, so here i am. good morning!
i didn't get much knitting done on the trip, shockingly enough. between all the hours in various cars (in various states of repair), and late nights and early mornings, my brain and finger connection was sadly hurt. before i left, i finished the regia 1937 socks
and began some patons kroy vista sea coloured socks.
as you can see, i knit one sock and began the second.
i also learned, my sneakers are too tight to wear ribbed socks with, because the indentations the 1937's left on my feet after a long day out were actually painful. note to self, note taken. truthfully, i'm getting a little weary of socks. they've been my project du months and months due to lack of funds to make anything larger, but i'm working on that. a new knit shop is opening down the street from my dad's house, but i fear they won't open their doors until september, and i'll be back in ohio by then.
this is a cruddy photo of my new glasses.
i think i like them, but i'm not sure if i like them as much as my other pair.
i got these to serve as backup (we have an eyeglass guy in hong kong) for days when i'm stupid and rush out the door with my glasses still on my nightstand and don't realize i can't see clearly until i'm already down my street and running 10 minutes late. i've learned to keep a pair in the glovebox for such emergencies. anyway, dad loves them, but i'm not sure yet. you can't really tell, but they're blue. i can't get the colour to show up properly in a photo.
lastly (for now, anyway) this is the highlight of my trip.
that's my dad, who is just as charming as charming can be. we had such a good time together, so much playing and laughing thrown in with the work. i'm lucky to have such a fella for my pops. it's 5:36am. the troops won't rise for another couple of hours, so i'm going to finish the book i'm reading until the house is alive with activity.

oooh. bastard blogger. this new format sucks my ass. i just wrote a long post about china, my knitting, the rest of my summer, etc and it ate it all up gone. so recap: still in china for one more week, currently in shanghai. have knit one sock, photos of it and china when i get new media reader installed (inherited digicam from dad- uses sony memory cards). no shopping yet. hopefully today. will be spending rest of summer in new york, up to the trip to london. am losing weight. twenty-seven pounds from now, i will reward myself by knitting sitcom chic (since i'm pretty sure it won't fit me now (actually, i'm pretty sure it won't fit me then, but it might!)). i'm good, i hope you are good. happy thursday.

i'm not missing on purpose. days after we got the dsl working in the house, i got a new laptop and the dsl went out again. so this laptop doesn't have any of my files on it yet, and i can't get the network working long enough to move them. i'm knitting a sock of patons kroy, reading a book that isn't that great and preparing for my trip. we leave saturday morning for hong kong and will be bouncing between hong kong and mainland china for nearly two weeks. i'll be in touch as i can, a lot of the hotels have lan access, so all should be well. but until i can get everything back in order, don't think i'm missing, just missing my internet.
adam is in belguim now, i miss him horribly and i cannot wait until mid august, because i'll be flying to london and spending my birthday with him, there. pretty sweet birthday present, huh?

it's the fourth of july, so tonight we're having the big cookout meal thing and doing the watching the fireworks thing. i'm not a very patriotic person, so i'd probably rather stay inside where it's cool and bug free- but my family is here and we're having a big weekend long party.
the good news is, dad's gotten the wireless dsl working finally, we think, so that's good too. i'm about six-ten rows from finishing the second 1937 sock, and i might just finish up with the leftovers from ball 1, if so, i made an entire pair of socks out of a 50g ball of regia 4ply. sweet, huh?
other than that, not much else is going on. i'm enjoying my sisters and family and reading and dieting, etc. i'm relaxed, which doesn't happen often- except i miss my boyfriend so stinky much. but this, as my mum says, too shall pass. xoox.

i'm here, safe, in new york. adam is off in europe. i miss him. my sisters are wonderful, i'm having fun with them and my dad and stepmom. working on losing the weight i put on over the last year, finishing the second 1937 sock, taking a lazy morning, on dial-up aol for now, dsl just doesn't work very well here, going to china on the 16th (hong kong and shanghai), going to london in august for my birthday to spend it with adam, will actually update later. xoxo.
