i joined the six sox knitalong, which will be my first knitalong ever. i decided it would aid in rekindling my love of sock knitting. for now, though, i'm still resting at my mom's house. i'm going home either tomorrow or saturday and will start back to work next week. i'm basically all better, and today is the first day that i've actually felt bored. previously, i was too out of it/sick/tired/etc to feel like doing anything but lying in bed, or on the couch. now i wish i'd packed more knitting. oh well, i'll get home soon and start on the first sock-along sock- a cloverleaf eyelet pattern.
thanks for the well wishes, it is really nice to know that someone cares.

forgive me for the lack of updates. i haven't had much knitting going on, or really, any knitting at all. i got very ill last week, and ended up in the hospital for a few days. i'm at my mom's, recuperating, now. it is killing me how much work i'm missing, but what can i do? i can still hardly keep any food in my body or sit up for more than ten minutes (i'm posting this from my lying down position on the couch). so i have two rounds of a hot pink bucket hat on the needles, buried in my bag. maybe i'll work on that in a few days. so there you have it. rachel=sick.

so i finished the bottoms up bucket. i kinda like it! i honestly didn't think i would. it is a touch too large, (though i'm going to toss it in a hot wash and see what happens) but i think that is because i overestimated the size of my head- i would have been better suited to a medium. i used lion brand kitchen cotton, in black obviously, and this hat took me WAY too long to knit. this was not because the pattern was especially difficult, but because i have been going through some personal things and i pretty much had no desire to do anything, even knit. i'm doing much much better now and i think i'll get back to the lo-tech.
i got a second job, i'm temping in my mom's office. my 'title' is database admin. this means i spend all day calling the numbers in our database to verify the information we have is correct, as well as trying to get more names and email addresses to add. then i put all the information into the outlook database, as well as into winsearch. very exciting. so now it is retail hell and an office job. i'm a busy girl. i took this weekend off, however, and i'm heading up north to spend a bit of time with my boy and friends.
and that is my story. see you next week!! xox.

i've started one of those ever popular bucket o'chic patterns (specifically the 'bottoms up' one). let me just add my voice the masses. purling in the round with doubled cotton? it hurts!! and i'm pretty sure i'll look stupid on me, but i needed something quick and different to do for a change. i'm using lion brand kitchen cotton in black because. well. i always tend towards black.
life has been so-so lately. adam visited last weekend, my work hours have been cut dramatically, i'm tired, i'm stressed, etc etc. life has to get better, i just know it.

i'm about three minutes late for national put a poem on your blog day, to celebrate national poetry month. but here it is anyway, my favourite poem.
since feeling is first
e.e. cummings
since feeling is first
who pays any attention
to the syntax of things
will never wholly kiss you;
wholly to be a fool
while Spring is in the world
my blood approves,
and kisses are a better fate
than wisdom
lady i swear by all flowers. Don't cry
—the best gesture of my brain is less than
your eyelids' flutter which says
we are for each other: then
laugh, leaning back in my arms
for life's not a paragraph
And death i think is no parenthesis
