lots to talk about tonight. the good news first:

see? i finished a sock during my busy week.

now the not so good news, my trip is off for the time being. i'm still headed to new york on sunday, but as of now, no trip overseas. to say that i'm sad about this would be a terrific understatement. today was not a lovely day. i did some hard junkfood time tonight before i finished knitting. ah well. these things happen. at least i'll get to see my little sisters- be prepared for daily photos of my girls, the cutest babies in the united states. for real.
next, i found a site similar to that pixel punks site that is aimed a bit more at us plus size girls, fat dolls! so of course i made a fat doll of myself, and adam made one of what he thinks i look like:

anyway, so tonight and today have been bummer city for me, but i am packed for the most part, i ate lowfat ice cream to comfort myself, and i have the cutest cat in the world:

jezz wants to read harry potter 5, too, but she's too sleepy to do it right now. so we say goodnight and goodbye. next time you hear from me i'll be in new york and the furball will be at mom's for safekeeping. see you in a couple days. xoxo.

so i'm making some progress on the regia 1937 sock, i haven't had much time- what with trying to get this place/my life in order. plus i forgot that i hate to do 2x2 ribbing on socks. ah well. i'm going to make these crew length socks so they'll be perfect for summer wear. i purchased some of the new regia short colour yesterday (5456-fantasie) and some sockotta (colour 6) to take on my trip, as well as some plastic darning needles and a thread cutting pendant for some airplane friendly tools (just realized i might want to pick up a plastic crochet hook- i doubt my metal one will get on the plane). i think my cat is wise to my leaving because she's been super sweet and has not attempted to take a bite out of me in days (she doesn't quite understand when 'playing' crosses the line to 'maiming the hand that feeds you').
anyway, the dirty kitchen is calling and as i will most likely have a bit of company later, i better make it presentable.

i think i managed to knit about six rows this weekend, enough to establish a 2x2 rib on the 1937 sock. i did spend almost 24 hours in the vacationland of erie pa with the adam, where we smooched, shopped, saw 'bruce almighty' and said goodbye for the next two months. i liked all of that, except for the saying goodbye bit. it is going to be a LONG summer.
if i can get at least one room in this apartment clean tonight i'll reward myself by knitting until bedtime- also, i've finished harry potter 5 and i was very happy with it, and i can't wait to read it again at the end of the summer to see what i missed the first time. i am a gigantic nerd. tomorrow i'm going to the yarn shoppe to pick up another pair of socks (or two) worth of yarn for the trip. i'll be gone a month in total, so i figure fivish pairs worth will be good to take. and hopefully i'll save up some cash from working to fund a sweater (dare i dream it?). we'll see. a girl can always dream, but she has a limited time to clean. see you tomorrow.

so i spent the last two days dogsitting at my mom's house so her air conditioner could be replaced. the dogsitting involved watching all four dogs lay in the same four spots all day. so i was pretty bored as well as hot and sweaty. i watched about six movies on the movie channels (including 'muriel's wedding' twice), read half a book,

finished the provence jaquard socks

and started a pair of regia mulitcolour (colour number 1937) socks, also for greedy little me.
my summer plans become a bit clearer. i'm leaving ohio on either june 29th or 30th and driving to new york, my dad and i are flying out to vietnam on july 6, followed by thailand, england, poland, romania and italy. we were going to go to india, but it got cut from the trip (and i'm a touch sad about that becuase, man, india)- it is going to be an amazing trip, and i'm so so excited. plus, saturday is harry potter day! my saturday plans include getting up early, running to borders, picking up my pre-ordered copy (yes, yes i am a giant nerd), coming home and climbing back in bed to read. my night includes a romantic getaway to erie pa for a last hurrah with my sweetie before our trips separate us for the rest of the summer. as for now, it's gearing towards my bedtime.

i'll leave you with the princess and the sock. goodnight!

i spent most of today nursing a killer headache. around 2:30 i finally gave up and got in bed, the boy called and read me to sleep (one of our traditions, he reads me novels from his youth.) and i managed to get a good two hours in (with awful dreams) when my cellphone rang and scared the living daylights out of me- my heart was pounding so hard! i couldn't fall to sleep again, even though adam called and read some more, so i took more advil and waited in a dark room til things got better. i helped adam prepare a list of things he still needs to get for his trip (he's spending about six weeks backpacking in europe with some friends- i'm going to miss him so much- i burst into tears nearly everytime we talk about it), and i finally worked on a pair of socks that i'd started weeks ago, and then abandoned.

it's getting on bedtime now, tomorrow i have to go up to my mom's house and watch the dogs while she has a new air conditioner installed. i plan on knitting and reading. exciting!! anyway, that's all for now. i'll leave you with a photo of my cat, who uses anything as a pillow- tonigh it was my sockbag and skien of working yarn.

my summer is so exciting, no?

i'm home from the great rainy and then warm white north. i had a really lovely weekend with the adam, his family, and our friends. lots of good food (avocado maki... mmmmmmmmmm), a fantastic movie, and my adam. did i mention my adam? he graduated from york university in toronto, and he was just so darn cute in his cap and gown. the cap was wool. it was this bizzare looking wool thing, but he looked cute nonetheless. it was a lovely ceremony- the graduates weren't allowed to shake hands with the chancellor thanks to the sars epidemic- but they all recieved a 'ceremonial nod'.

adam and i all ready for his big day.

he graduated in jeans and sneakers. i love him.
so that's it. i'll be back with knitting stuff tomorrow. thank you EVERYONE for such fantastic feedback about the makeover. happy monday. xoox.

and there it is, same nerdy girl, just in some summer colours. i had to give myself some shades, didn't i?
i'm off to canada today, adam is graduating from university on saturday and i'm going to smother him with pride. also, possibly yarn shop a bit- i need sock yarn up the wazoo for my summer trip. i'm going on a business trip with my dad, as his p.a. and an assistant product developer. we're leaving in early july and heading to viet nam, thailand, romania, poland and italy. a two-ish week trip, and i can't wait. sock knitting is light and portable and smoooshable- i'll be an overseas knitting fool!
anyway, i better get a move on, i have to shower and pack and clean out my car. see everyone on monday. hope you like the changes. xoxo.

still working on a makeover for the site- i've been sidetracked by my days of laze, and yahoo bowling. last night, however, i did an update to my links page. while i was at my mom's house, i used my link page as my way of checking the sites i like to read daily- but half of them were missing. so i started to update that. then, i knit a mouse for jezzebelle, using wendy's mousealong pattern.

anyway, that's about it for now. today i actually have things to do, errands, cleaning, baking etc, so i better get a move on. xoxo.

okay kids! i'm back home. this is just so lovely. i didn't knit a single stitch all weekend, i haven't even started my laundry yet. i have not a single thing planned until thursday afternoon, so i plan to take this week to clean up my apartment, do piles of laundry, and redesign the old website. sounds exciting, no? the new knitty is out- some great feature articles and interesting patterns- nothing that really jumps at me to be knit- except the finger puppers- an elephant for my jessi would go over VERY well.
anyway- that's all for now. i'm going to get that first load of laundry in, and maybe put a loaf of bread in the machine for rising time. see you soon.

i'm back from my weekend vacation. mom's best friend came to town so i took that opportunity to go home and unwind (and enjoy a visit from my sweetie). i didn't do much besides watch the third season of friends, a movie or two, snuggle and relax.
i've been going to work with mom in the mornings these last couple of weeks, but starting today, i have to go back in the afternoons to answer the phones (mom's boss is fine with her lengthy recuperation, but needs those pesky phones answered. i may have been bribed. mom told me i'd get paid 8$ for those last couple hours a day). either way, i'm pretty damn broke so answer phones i'll do. i also have to go to the library to pick up some books i put on reserve. recently, a lot of my favourite 'chick lit' authors have released new titles, so that gives me something to look forward to.
and finally, in knitting news (photos later), i started a pair of socks for myself in regia jaquard colour 5270, 'provence'. i'm turning the heel on sock #1, and i finally ordered some size 0 needles, because i'm starting to think the fabric is too flimsy on size 1s. i never thought i'd see the day when i actually wanted to use smaller needles.
so that's all for now, i have some errands to run before i go back to the office. happy monday.
