again, no knitting photos. i'm stalled on lotech because i'm not sure, now that i'm done the back and working one of the fronts, that i'm in love with the pattern. i'm going to stow her away while i marinate on that. also, i really need to finish the baby blanket and i'm not even 1/4 done that. also, i have to finish whipping out my scarf (hello? mother nature? it is still september. i do NOT need to be seeing my breath for another three weeks. please take this under advisement. thank you. rachel m.), and then make a winter set for a friend who will see a true winter for the first time. i'm a winter goods goddess, thank you much.

in other news, the kitten is one thousand percent comfortable here in apartment e. she and the big cat are still at odds, but not as large of odds. she sleeps soundly right on top of me, licks my nose and destroys my yarn. we are in love, the kitten and i. and now off to live my day. xoxo.

no knitting progress to show, i left my chart at home over the weekend- which left me incredibly bored when i took ill up north. i read some of adam's old gordon korman books, lay pathetically in his bed, drank lots of tea and helped him ring in his new year in the best way possible- waiting on me hand and foot!
but seriously, folks, i did manage to purchase replacement needles for lotech, and i cast on for front left last night. i'm still chugging away on the baby blanket, as well. also, new look around here. a new fall frock, if you will. i love the fall. i still need to do some links updating, and do some work over there on the sidebar thingie. all in good time. for now? i nap.

i am poor, college student style poor, these days. saturday is adam's birthday. i cannot afford to buy him anything. i am bored of socks and decided to not knit him another pair. my mom offered to lend me some cash to buy him a present, but that makes me feel funky. so what is a knit blogger to do? i found this pattern, and decided that i'd make the sockyarn doll for adam. well. the pattern is not so well written (for example, it instructs you to knit 8 rectangles. it only uses six.), and mine is not so well constructed (the neck was a little odd, so i added an i-cord scarf), but i sent adam the photo and he loves it. that is true love. you make your boyfriend a lame sock yarn doll for his birthday and he loves it.

it's knitty day!
i've spent a relaxing weekend up in the great white north, and only have three and a half days of the great allergen not so north to deal with before i return to celebrate the boy's birthday. health wise, i'm getting there. i'm taking seven pills a day now, and using my maintaining inhaler and i basically have been taking it hella easy (read: stayed home almost every day last week. i can't even THINK of how much work i have to catch up on at school). i'm not feeling so hot this morning, but i'm not feeling nearly as bad as i did last week. so that is an improvement.

so last week, i managed to finish the back of lotech (please forgive the horrible pinning in the photo. all i could find was a box of thumbtacks (bad former textile arts major)). i also managed to lose one of my size 6 needles, rendering it impossible to begin the left front. ah well.
so that would be about it. i'm working a secret baby blanket for my friend jenn, (she knows OF the blanket, but she reads this site so no photos, lest they spoil the surprise) cuddling my kitties and trying to get a foothold on life. happy knitty day.

i'm on a self imposed knitting fast, until my hand stops hurting. but the yarn is not far from my mind, apparently. last night i dreamed that i was sick (with the asthma, etc) and the new doctor i went to see INSISTED that i buy 'the purl stitch' because garter stitch would make me feel better (he must have meant 'the knit stitch', but still. even my dreams want me to buy knitting books). oh to have a spare 20$.

hat try number two was a great success.

it took me almost two hours to crochet that flower, as i pretty much had no idea what i was doing, i had no flower 'pattern'. so i just kept on hooking that yarn. hook hook hook through bridget jones' diary.

i couldn't be happier with it.
other than that, i began a baby blanket for a friend, cooked and baked, and updated my links and about pages. does the fun ever start??

so i'm getting my heath back in order, i did a round of oral steriods and a course of antibiotics (aside from the asthma flare, i have tonsillitis (which may be chronic)). i feel between 50 and 60 percent better, so that is a good start. unfortunately i haven't had much awake time to deal with things i'm afraid of (such as lotech), so my knitting has been mostly waylaid. that is not to say i've done nothing!

i got the idea for winter hat #1 (i hate winter, but love hats and scarves) and decided to give it a go. it didn't quite work out the way i wanted, but it's growing on me and i'm looking forward to version 2.
the other big news is that i have welcomed a kitten into my big fat arms. meet norah:

norah is a three month old longish hair tabby. she is cuddly and hyper and sweet and currently norah and jezz hate one another. ah well. i love them both.

and that would be about it, for now. i have a lazy weekend ahead of me, in which i'll finish the back of lotech and start a front, possibly knit flower hat #2, and go watch the browns season opener at mom's on sunday. oh yes, my life is soooo goooooood.
