Day Three

I’d like to begin tonight by saying that there is NO PARTICULAR ORDER to my list of things I am grateful for.  They are simply coming to me randomly as I think about the wonderful things that I have in my life and the many, many blessings that have been bestowed upon me.

Tonight, as I sit curled on the sofa with my tablet, typing this, I am being attacked by my Day Three choice, also known as Tiffany.

She was just a baby here, but Tiffany STILL sleeps curled up next to me every night , neither of us would know how to sleep anymore without the other.

This little girl came barreling into my life on September 11th, 2012. I wanted a kitten desperately so I did a little preparation and made accommodations in my life for one.  This meant security deposits and rental agreements when I first got her, as I was living in an apartment at the time. When the paperwork was all done I had to search for her.  After several visits to the Harford County Humane Society, I spotted her.  As soon as I saw her I called it….”she’s the one!” I said!  And she was!

When I first saw her she looked so quiet and peaceful and calm.

That all went out the window once I got her home.  Immediately some of her favorite activities included: getting on top of the kitchen cabinets, climbing up the curtains and laying across the top of the curtain rod, unable to get back down AND my personal favorite, stealing my makeup brushes, jewelry and other small items and keeping them all in a stash under the sofa!! Also, initially, there were some litter box issues which I take full responsibility for.  Never try to teach your cat to use a toilet folks, it really messes with their minds! Thankfully, Tiff is now 100 perfect litter box trained and never, ever has accidents anywhere!

This sweet little girl has been through so much with me, She has moved with me twice, has watched as people have come in and out of my life while she steadfastly never goes anywhere (with the exception of that one night when she ran away for 2 hours) She has stuck by me through some very tumultuous and emotional times, and always comforts me when I am sad…seriously, she somehow just knows.

She is so playful!

The ONE THING that I feel bad about when it comes to Tiff is the fact that I have kept her mainly an indoor cat, I don’t want her to go outside, we live not far from a busy road and I’m afraid she will get hit by a car or fight with neighborhood dogs, or come home with deer ticks and  fleas.  But, I see her stare out the windows at the outside and I know she wants to be out there so bad!  Sometimes she sneakily tries to obscond out the backdoor when we are letting the dog out into our fenced yard.  I know she just wants to be OUT THERE, wallowing in nature.  So, I have been considering buying her a leash and actually taking her for little walks.  People do it with their dogs, why not with cats? Right?

Anyhow, Tiffany, AKA “TIFF”, AKA Gwen Sti-FFANY….I love you to pieces, and I’m so thankful for that day I walked into that room and and our eyes met.  You will always be “THE ONE” for me. :)
